Waarom ik alleen nog sieraden draag met een ziel

Why I only wear jewelry with a soul

For me, jewelry has never just been adornment. They are stories. Connections. Memories I carry with me, every single day.

When I look at my hand, I see three rings. Each with its own history.
The first is a simple gold ring, a gift from my father – he traveled a lot and always brought something back for his daughters. This ring was one of those presents. My father passed away in 2017, but he is still with me every day, on my finger.

The second ring is even more personal. A gold ring with a small ruby and a few crystals. This belonged to my sister, given to her by our father when she turned 18. My sister passed away far too young, in 1991. I wear that ring not only out of love, but also as a promise that she will never be forgotten.

The third is my engagement ring. Given to me by my ex-husband when we got engaged. He is also no longer with us; he passed away, like my father, in 2017. Just like the gold slave bracelet he gave me, I still wear that ring. Day and night. Three people I loved intensely. Three stories on my fingers.

And then my Murano jewelry. They carry a different layer. They connect me to my love for Italy, a love I shared with my ex-husband and my mother. My mother, who passed away in 2013, dreamed of seeing Rome one more time. She was already ill, but we went together. That trip… I will never forget her face. Rome was so beautiful, so bright – just like her. It was perfect.

I only wear jewelry with a story now. And that feels good.
A piece of jewelry should say something. Mean something. Not just be an accessory. But a memory, a piece of soul. That's how it should be, I think.

And that's why I choose handmade jewelry. No mass production. No empty glitter. But real craftsmanship, with history, love, and character. Like Murano glass – soft, alive, unique. Just like the memories I carry.

💌 And you?

Do you also have jewelry that carries a story? That reminds you of someone, a moment, a love?
